Fiverr Celebrates its First Annual International Freelancer Day
Today, Fiverr, the company reshaping global collaboration, announced that October 19 will be designated as International Freelancer Day, a day to recognize and honor freelancers worldwide for their contributions to the global economy.Around 46.5% of the all out worldwide labor force are independently employed;that is generally 1.6 billion individuals all over the planet, as indicated by the World Bank.There is not yet an official global day to recognize the freelance community and their contributions to the work world, despite the fact that there are numerous days throughout the year that honor other professionals. Even though being a freelancer has many advantages, they still feel like they aren’t recognized as contributing to the larger work world.According to a recent survey of freelancers on Fiverr, the ability to work from home (49 percent), being their own boss (39 percent), and the ability to choose their projects, type of work, or clients are the most important advantages of freelancing.However, 34% of freelancers believe they are not recognized as significant contributors when asked how they feel about their contribution to the global economy.

The Freelancer Wellness Fund was established by Fiverr and the Freelancers Union in honor of International Freelancer Day.This fund will provide microgrants to freelancers worldwide to help them thrive holistically.It aims to help them outside of work by providing cash assistance for a wide range of wellness-related costs, including but not limited to those related to mental health, social well-being (such as child care and other family-related costs), physical well-being, and financial well-being.
